WHAT IS FUT?
Follicle Unit Transplantation (FUT) This hair transplant method is similar to the FUE hair transplant method. However, the differences between the two methods are the way the hair follicles are taken and separated. In a strip procedure, a strip of skin will be removed from the patient’s donor area instead of selecting the grafts one by one as with the FUE method. This hair transplant method is best suited for people who want to wear their hair longer so the scarring from the strip is not visible.
BENEFITS OF FUT:
- Larger numbers of follicle units can be transplanted in one session.
- Up to 5,000 follicle units can be transferred in one appointment.
- FUT is recommended for of treatment for patients who cannot commit to multiple surgery dates.
- FUT have a higher rate of follicle survival compared to FUE.
- Advantageous if the patient likely will wear their hair longer.
